Welcome to South Cairns Australian Football & Sporting Club
The South Cairns Australian Football & Sporting Club is a member-driven, not-for-profit AFL football club based in Edmonton, Queensland.
We are an inclusive community-based sports club with a proud history of supporting men, women, and children on and off the field, providing opportunities to play competitive sports, have fun, develop skills and inspire one another. The club has a rich and proud history dating back to 1956 as one of two original founding clubs in the league. Located at Fretwell Park Edmonton, at the base of the Great Dividing Range, our club prides itself on being known as a family-friendly football and netball club.
South Cairns Cutters has close to 500 registered players across ages and gender, including Auskick, Under 8s, Under 9s, Under 10s, Under 11s, Under 12s, Under 14s, Under 15 Youth Girls, Under 16s, Under 18 Youth girls, Under 18 Colts. Senior Women's team, Reserve and Senior Men's teams.
Pathways exist for talented girls and boys to be drafted to AFL clubs whilst remaining in Cairns, and our club actively encourages and promotes football to both aspiring footballers regardless of gender or ability.
Off the field, the club has an enviable culture, strong corporate structure, and committee in place to take us well into the future.
Opened in June 2016 the South Cairns Sports Club was established with in excess of 10,000 club members. Constructed in partnership with AFL Cairns and Cazaly's - the new social club is the largest development seen on the Southside of Cairns in over 10 years. The social club includes restaurant, bar, TAB, KENO, and gaming facilities. The club understands its obligation to community, this is recognised every year with a charity game being played, with all proceeds going to the charity chosen for that year. The club, supporters and members have donated over $100,000 to different charities over the last ten years.
